Democrat fundraising
Why do I do fundraisers? I'm not very good at it, not very corporate, but every little bit helps. I'm doing a fundraiser for Norman Siegel, who defends 9/11 families, bicyclists protesting the Iraq war, dancers arrested for dancing in a bar to the jukebox (thanks to recent administrations ie Guiliani, we're calling NYC "NO Fun City". Anyway I'm emailing and emailing, I don't have it down, and my computer seems to have dementia. Everytime i try to open sophisticated programs, it crashes. Lots of fun. Anyway, heres the press release.
Barbeque and Blues Benefit for Norman Siegel at A&M Roadhouse Sunday Aug 7 - 7pm "Joy, If you're doing a benefit for Norman Siegel,
you're doing G-d's work". paraphrasing Danny
Goldberg, CEO Radio Air America
FLASH - PENNY ARCADE WILL BE THERE!!!
The Rhythm Club will be hosting a benefit for Norman
Siegel in his run for Public Advocate of NYC. (He's
always doing pro bono work , so we might as well figure a way to get him on the City Payroll!!! Representing 9/11 families, protesters at the RNC, Siegel is also
defending dancers right to dance in NYC, and is
challenging the "no fun" Cabaret Law. (Did you know
you can be busted for "shakin' your moneymaker?")
Anyway, for your suggested donation of $20, you get
a free barbeque buffet, music from MARK PINES and the NIGHTCAP CARNIVAL with songwriter extraordinaire CHARLIE BUCKLAND and funkmeister JOEL HIRSCH. My ex partner,
AVIS DAVIS will be there,(doing old songs? New
Songs?), as will original Beatlemania cast member PETE
SANTORA, doing (what else?) Beatle tunes. Yale
University's second most famous singer/songwriter alum
(after Cole Porter, of course) CHARLIE HICKOX will be playing with DAVE PIERI. JOY
RYDER (me) & the NY RHYTHM ALL STARS will be in the house to
do a set of 60's soul with THE RESTLESS ONES. New add on:
STORMIN' NORMAN (of Stormin
Norman and Susan) . A&M Roadhouse is at 57 Murray Street, between
Church and Broadway, 5 blocks north of Ground Zero.
YOu can take the 2,3, R, 4,5, or 6 trains to Chambers
Street/City Hall and walk. The fun starts at 7. The
whole thing will be videotaped by P'Funk's most
prodigious videographer, TIM KINLEY for the Rhythm
Club TV show, so look good!! RSVP to 718 447 2611.
